otor Company and KIA America, Inc. artificially inflate the destination fees they charge. Consumers pay destination fees for delivery of a new vehicle to the dealership from the port or factory.  In violation of federal law, Hyundai and KIA fail to disclose the actual cost of transporting the vehicle.

Consumer advocacy groups have been studying the growing trend of vehicle destination charges increasing over the past several years. Many of the destination charges exceed the rate of inflation by 2.5 times.  Automakers claim that the rising cost of the destination fee is due to an increase in cost for delivery.  However, that is belied by the fact that the increase exceeds the rate of inflation.
