BMW X5 owners report experiencing unexpected surges and acceleration while driving at low speeds, including when stopped, braking, or maneuvering into parking spaces. Some owners report the vehicles accelerating forcefully despite their attempts to stop, resulting in collisions with garages, other vehicles, and structures. In some instances, owners report significant property damage and injuries, while others state that BMW inspected the vehicles but did not identify a cause for the unexpected acceleration.

BMW Fails To Remedy

Some BMW X5 owners have reported taking their vehicles to authorized dealerships after experiencing sudden unintended acceleration, but dealerships have been unable to identify or reproduce the condition. In some cases, the vehicles were returned after inspections without a cause being identified or a permanent repair being provided. Other customers have reported receiving software updates following an acceleration incident but experiencing similar events afterward. As a result, they have been left without a permanent remedy and concerned about the safety of continuing to operate their vehicle.
