DeWalt Miter Saw Defective Guard Investigation

DeWalt Miter Saw Defective Guard Assemblies

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating certain DeWalt Miter Saws for issues relating to defective guard assemblies. This issue affects millions of sliding miter saws and poses significant laceration risks to users. A major recall was issued for these saws, but many units remain in use, and the remedy may not sufficiently address the potential for serious injury.

DeWalt miter sawDeWalt Owners Report Guard Failures and Sudden Arm Drop

Miter saw owners report instances where the rear miter saw guard assembly shatters or fails, exposing the user to the spinning blade. Some users have even reported the miter saw’s arm dropping unexpectedly, leading to contact with the blade. These failures can result in serious lacerations or projectile injuries from the shattering guard components.

Recall Issued, but Safety Concerns Remain

While DeWalt has initiated a massive recall for approximately 1.4 million miter saws, concerns exist regarding the effectiveness of the proposed remedy and the continued danger for those who haven’t yet received a replacement kit. Users may still be at risk, especially if they are unaware of the recall or if the replacement part fails to permanently fix the safety hazard.
