MSI Laptop Keyboard Failure Investigation

Current Investigations

MSI Laptop Keyboard Failure & Unresponsive Keys Defect

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating MSI gaming and creator laptops (including the Stealth, Raider, Titan, Katana, Pulse, Creator, and Prestige series) for persistent issues relating to premature keyboard hardware failure. A manufacturing and component defect causes individual keys, full rows, or entire keyboard assemblies to abruptly become unresponsive, register phantom inputs, or fail completely during normal use.

MSI LaptopMSI Owners Report Sudden Loss of Key Response and Typing Failures

Owners of affected MSI laptops report widespread malfunctions where essential keys. In many instances, the failure begins intermittently, requiring excessive force or key combinations to register before failing entirely. Users also report repeating/stuck keystrokes and malfunctioning RGB per-key backlighting.

Since the defect is rooted in the underlying keyboard membrane, circuit tracks, and internal ribbon cable connections, software updates and driver reinstallation fail to resolve the issue.

Expensive Out-of-Warranty Repairs and Lack of a Permanent Remedy

Because modern MSI laptops utilize chassis designs where the keyboard is riveted or integrated directly into the upper palm rest assembly, repairing a single unresponsive key often requires replacing the entire top casing or motherboard connection. Owners report that these failures frequently manifest shortly after the expiration of the one-year limited warranty, leaving consumers with repair quotes ranging from hundreds of dollars to the total replacement value of the laptop. We currently have no knowledge of any recall or free extended repair program offered by MSI to address these keyboard component defects.
