Chevrolet Trax Digital Dashboard & Infotainment Blackout Defect

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating 2024–2025 Chevrolet Trax vehicles for issues relating to intermittent and sudden digital dashboard and infotainment screen blackouts. The defect stems from software and hardware integration failures within the Virtual Cockpit Unit (VCU) module, causing primary instrument clusters and central displays to shut off without warning.

Trax Owners Report Blank Gauges, Continuous Reboot Loops, and Critical Safety Risks

Owners of 2024–2025 Chevrolet Trax vehicles report that the digital instrument panel and center touchscreen go completely black while driving or fail to illuminate upon vehicle startup. This sudden blackout blinds drivers to critical driving information, including the digital speedometer, fuel gauge, active warning indicators, and turn signal tell-tales. Additionally, drivers report continuous reboot cycles every 30 to 60 seconds, navigation and Bluetooth dropouts, reverse camera malfunctions, and audio systems remaining powered on after the engine is turned off.

GM Recalls and Software Updates Fail to Permanently Resolve Display Failures

While General Motors previously initiated a recall (NHTSA Recall 23V-744) to deploy VCU software updates for select 2024 models, numerous owners continue to report recurring blackouts across both 2024 and newer 2025 models even after receiving dealership or Over-the-Air (OTA) updates. Many drivers describe taking their vehicles into authorized dealerships only to be told the issue could not be duplicated, leaving consumers with an unreliable digital display and substantial diminished market value.
