Ford Expedition & Super Duty Headlight & Exterior Lighting Failure Defect

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating 2025–2027 Ford Expedition SUVs and 2026 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks for critical safety defects involving contaminated LED headlight assemblies. Due to a supplier manufacturing defect, contaminated LED chips cause low beams, high beams, daytime running lights (DRLs), and parking lamps to dim unexpectedly or fail entirely, dramatically reducing roadway visibility and creating severe crash hazards.

Drivers Face Sudden Headlight Blackouts, Dimming, and Nighttime Driving Hazards

Owners of newly purchased Ford Expedition SUVs and heavy-duty commercial Super Duty pickups rely on their vehicle's advanced LED lighting systems for safe illumination during night driving, adverse weather, and job-site towing operations. However, reports filed with federal safety regulators indicate that contaminated LED chips suffer from premature degradation and sudden electrical burnout. When these chips fail, drivers may experience sudden loss of forward illumination at highway speeds or find that their vehicles are virtually invisible to oncoming motorists, directly violating Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS No. 108). While a dashboard warning indicator may illuminate when low or high beams stop functioning, the sudden blackout leaves motorists stranded in dark traffic lanes with diminished reaction time.

Ford Recalls Over 41,000 Trucks and SUVs Amid Growing Safety Lighting Concerns

Ford Motor Company submitted a safety recall report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) covering 41,748 vehicles across the United States. Although Ford has instructed authorized dealerships to inspect and replace defective headlight assemblies free of charge, owners of these commercial workhorses and family SUVs face dealership scheduling backorders, part shortages, and prolonged vehicle downtime. We are investigating whether Ford manufactured and distributed these high-end trucks and SUVs with defective lighting hardware and whether affected consumers are entitled to compensation for safety risks, repair delays, and diminished vehicle value.
