Heights Finance Data Breach

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating Heights Finance Holdings Co. following a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to its cloud-based platform where customer data is stored. Heights Finance Affected Employees and Patients Report Sensitive Information Exposure

Individuals affected by the Heights Finance data breach may have had sensitive personal information exposed, including full names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, financial account information, Social Security numbers, tax identification numbers, driver’s license numbers, state identification numbers, and dates of birth. The information may also include personal circumstances voluntarily provided during customer service interactions. The exposure of this information may leave affected individuals vulnerable to identity theft, financial fraud, phishing, and other unauthorized use of their personal information.

Heights Finance Fails to Adequately Protect Affected Individuals

Heights Finance has taken certain steps in response to the unauthorized access, including investigating the incident, securing the affected cloud-based platform, engaging a third-party cybersecurity specialist to monitor the dark web for information that may have been involved in the incident, and offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services to affected individuals. However, these measures do not remedy the underlying exposure of sensitive personal information or eliminate the risks associated with its unauthorized access. Indeed, Heights Finance’s own notice letter acknowledges that the company must continue monitoring the dark web for information that may have been involved in the incident, demonstrating that the risk to affected individuals cannot simply be eliminated by securing the platform after the fact.
