Hererod Jump Starter/Power Bank Fire Hazard

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating the Hererod PW40 and EW40 jump starters/power banks for issues relating to a potential fire defect. The internal lithium-ion batteries in these products can reportedly explode and ignite, posing risks of serious injury and death due to fire.

Hererod Owners Report Fires and Property Damage

Hererod owners have reported fires involving the PW40 and EW40 jump starters/power banks, with some incidents resulting in property damage. The affected jump starters are designed to provide portable power for electronic devices and to jump-start vehicles, and the PW40 model also includes a built-in tire inflator. Because these products are intended to be kept available for emergency use, consumers may store them in vehicles or other locations for extended periods between uses. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has urged consumers to stop using the products immediately and follow local hazardous-waste procedures for disposal due to the fire hazard associated with the internal lithium-ion batteries.

Hererod Fails To Remedy

The CPSC has urged consumers to immediately stop using the Hererod PW40 and EW40 jump starters/power banks and dispose of them through appropriate hazardous-waste procedures due to the fire hazard. However, the manufacturer has been unresponsive to CPSC requests for a recall or information concerning the products. As a result, consumers who purchased the affected jump starters may be left without a recall, replacement, or other remedy for the products. Consumers who experienced fires, property damage, injuries, or other losses may also have incurred expenses that have not been addressed.
