Lenovo Yoga Power Failure & Motherboard Defect
Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating Lenovo Yoga laptops for issues relating to sudden power-delivery, charging, and motherboard failures. This defect causes Lenovo Yoga laptops to abruptly stop charging, refuse to power on, or become completely inoperable during normal use. These issues frequently occur shortly after the manufacturer’s one-year limited warranty expires.

Yoga Owners Report Sudden Total Power Loss
Lenovo Yoga owners report that their laptops worked normally before abruptly failing to charge or turn on. Common issues include unresponsive power buttons, unlit or abnormally blinking charging LEDs, and USB-C charging ports failing to deliver power. Even with known-working chargers and batteries disconnected, the devices often remain completely unresponsive due to suspected failures within the motherboard's power-management circuitry.
High Repairing Costs and Lenovo's Lack of Remedy
Due to the integration of the CPU, memory, and power-management components onto a single board in modern laptops, repair for this issue typically requires a complete motherboard replacement. Owners have reported that these failures frequently occur approximately 12 to 24 months after purchase, just beyond the standard warranty period, resulting in out of pocket repair costs that approach the cost of a new laptop. We currently do not posses knowledge of any recall or free extended repair program offered by Lenovo to resolve this defect.
