Federal safety regulators and Hyundai have issued safety alerts warning owners to park their Palisades outside and away from structures until repairs are completed. Moisture intrusion into the 4-pin or 7-pin tow hitch harness printed circuit board (PCB) can trigger uncontrolled electrical arcing, burning odors, melting plastic, and engine-off vehicle fires. Ineffective Interim Remedies and Backordered Replacement Fuses

Despite multiple safety recalls covering over 245,000 vehicles, many owners have received only temporary interim remedies, such as removing the harness fuse to deactivate towing functionality entirely. Owners report extensive dealer backorders for permanent waterproofed replacement harnesses, leaving them unable to utilize their factory-installed or port-installed towing packages for extended periods.
