Rivian Rearview Camera Display Defect Investigation

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating 2022-2027 Rivian R1S, 2022-2026 Rivian R1T, and 2027 Rivian R2 vehicles for issues relating to defective rearview camera displays. This issue may prevent drivers from properly viewing the area behind the vehicle when reversing.

Rivian Owners Report Delayed, Frozen, and Missing Camera Images

Rivian owners have reported instances in which the rearview camera takes several seconds to appear, freezes while the vehicle is in reverse, or fails to display altogether. Some owners have also reported changes in the camera view and degraded functionality following software updates. These issues may leave drivers without a reliable view of the area behind the vehicle while maneuvering or backing into parking spaces.

Rivian Fails To Remedy

Rivian has addressed the rearview camera display issue through an over-the-air software update intended to prevent the notification from obstructing the camera image. However, owners have continued to report rearview camera problems, including delayed, frozen, or missing images following software updates, with some reporting that resets and service visits did not resolve the issue. These reports raise concerns that software updates may not fully address the broader camera display problems experienced by some Rivian owners.
