Bissell Steam Cleaner Burn & Scald Hazard Defect

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating certain Bissell handheld and canister steam cleaners (including Steam Shot and PowerFresh series models) for severe safety defects relating to boiling water discharge and pressurized steam release. A defect in the internal boiler, pressure relief system, and nozzle seals allows scalding water and pressurized steam to unpredictably leak, spit, or erupt from the unit, posing serious burn and scald hazards during normal household use.

Consumers Report Uncontrolled Steam Eruptions and Severe Burn Injuries

Users of affected Bissell steam cleaners report alarming incidents where boiling water sprays uncontrollably from the nozzle, trigger mechanism, or water cap during ordinary operation. In numerous instances, consumers describe safety caps loosening under pressure, hoses rupturing, or units suddenly expelling large bursts of boiling water onto hands, arms, and legs. These failures have caused painful second- and third-degree burn injuries, blistering, and permanent scarring.

Despite widespread consumer complaints, regulatory reports, and prior recalls involving millions of steam cleaning units, many consumers report that replacement units or repair kits fail to eliminate the danger of pressurized water leaks.
