Mitsubishi Outlander Rearview Camera Defect

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating the 2025-2026 Mitsubishi Outlander and 2026 Outlander PHEV for issues relating to the rearview camera failing to display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. The issue has been linked to software in the vehicle’s infotainment system and has resulted in a recall affecting more than 67,000 vehicles.

Outlander Owners Report Frozen and Black Rearview Camera Screens

Mitsubishi Outlander owners report experiencing rearview camera screens that freeze, go black, or fail to display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. Some owners also report the infotainment screen shutting off or restarting at the same time, leaving them without a functioning view of the area behind the vehicle while backing up.

Mitsubishi Fails To Remedy

Mitsubishi has previously attempted to address similar rearview camera and infotainment failures through software updates, but the same A-IVI system has continued to be associated with freezing, black screens, and failures to display the rearview camera image. Mitsubishi received hundreds of warranty claims and multiple field reports concerning A-IVI issues before expanding its recall to additional Outlander and Outlander PHEV vehicles in 2025. The company has now issued another recall for 2025-2026 Outlander and 2026 Outlander PHEV vehicles involving the same type of rearview camera failure.
