Toyota Tundra & Lexus LX Engine Bearing Failure Investigation

Current Investigations

Toyota Tundra & Lexus LX V35A Engine Bearing Failure Defect

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating certain 2022–2024 Toyota Tundra pickups and certain Lexus LX 600 luxury SUVs equipped with the 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 (V35A-FTS) engine for engine failure defects. Debris from the manufacturing process left inside engine blocks can contaminate main crankshaft and connecting rod bearings, leading to catastrophic internal bearing failure, severe knocking, and sudden engine seizure while driving.

Toyota Tundra & LexusOwners Face Sudden Engine Seizures and Loss of Motive Power

Owners report hearing sudden knocking, rattling, or metallic scraping sounds from the engine bay shortly before experiencing total engine failure. In many instances, the engine seizes abruptly without prior warning while traveling at highway speeds, disabling power steering, braking assist, and critical vehicle control systems, creating severe collision hazards. Drivers also report rough idling, unexpected stalling, and check engine or low oil pressure warning lights illuminating immediately prior to breakdown.

Massive Recall, Long Engine Replacement Backorders, and Diminished Value

Although Toyota issued a safety recall covering over 100,000 non-hybrid vehicles and agreed to replace affected engine short/long blocks, owners face immense hurdles. Many drivers report waiting months without their trucks due to extensive dealership backorders on replacement engines and critical components. Furthermore, owners of hybrid i-FORCE MAX models with the same underlying engine architecture report similar concerns, and owners face substantial diminished market value on their trucks due to major engine disassembly and replacements.
