Hyundai Palisade Power Seat Injury Defect

The issue affects certain Palisade and Palisade Hybrid vehicles equipped with Limited or Calligraphy trim packages, where the second and third row power seats may fail to detect a person or object and continue moving during powered seat functions.

Hyundai Palisade Owners Report Seat Entrapment and Injury Concerns

Hyundai Palisade owners have reported instances in which the powered rear seats continued moving after coming into contact with passengers or objects, including incidents involving children. Some owners describe passengers becoming pinned or trapped by the seats, while others report being unable to stop the seats quickly when the powered folding or tilt functions were activated. Owners have also reported concerns that the recall software update changes or restricts the original seat functionality without fully addressing the underlying safety concerns

Hyundai Fails To Remedy

Hyundai has issued a software remedy for the affected Palisade vehicles, but some owners have reported concerns with the effectiveness and consequences of the update. The remedy requires owners to use press-and-hold controls for certain seat functions, disables the seat-folding and stowing controls from the infotainment screen, and requires the tailgate to be open for the power-seat stow function.
