Nissan Rogue Spontaneous Rear Window Shattering Defect

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating 2021–2025 Nissan Rogue crossover SUVs for critical safety defects relating to rear liftgate window glass spontaneously shattering or exploding. This defect affects the tempered rear windshield, which frequently bursts without any collision, foreign object impact, or extreme temperature changes, occurring both while the vehicle is parked and while being driven.

Owners Report Explosive Pops, Flying Glass Shards, and Cabin Showers

Nissan Rogue owners report sudden, terrifying incidents where the rear tailgate window violently blows out without warning. In many cases, drivers describe hearing a gunshot-like boom followed by hundreds of sharp glass fragments spraying across the cargo area, rear passenger seating, child car seats, and strollers. Multiple reports indicate that the failure happens immediately after closing a vehicle door or rear lift-gate, while activating the rear defroster, or while cruising at highway speeds—startling drivers and creating immediate collision and laceration risks.

Nissan Denies Warranty Coverage and Claims External Damage

Despite hundreds of complaints submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and class action litigation, Nissan routinely denies warranty coverage under its 3-year/36,000-mile factory warranty.
