Hero Fire Spray Consumers Report Canisters Exploding and Deteriorating

Consumers report Hero Fire Spray Canisters exploding or deteriorating after being stored for periods of time. Some consumers have reported finding the canisters compromised while in storage, raising concerns about the products’ durability and condition before they are needed for use. The reported incidents have involved canisters deteriorating or exploding without being used to extinguish a fire.

Prepared Hero Fails To Remedy

Many consumers who purchased the affected Hero Fire Spray Canisters have been instructed to stop using the products and obtain a replacement through Prepared Hero’s recall program. Prepared Hero is offering free replacement canisters to consumers who still have the recalled product, but requires them to register for the replacement and provide photographs of the canister and its date code. Consumers who have already disposed of their recalled canisters are not currently eligible for a refund, according to the company. Consumers must also arrange for the recalled canister to be taken to a municipal household hazardous waste collection center because the product is pressurized and cannot be discarded in the trash or general recycling.
