Ford 2.3L EcoBoost Piston Failure Defect

Owners of affected Ford vehicles may experience warning signs including an illuminated check engine light, misfires, unusual noises, or changes in performance. In some cases, these symptoms may develop before a more serious failure occurs, while affected vehicles have also experienced failures during testing and in the field. Some owners may therefore experience changes in how their vehicles operate before they can no longer be driven as intended.

Ford Fails To Remedy

Many owners of affected vehicles have been notified of the piston defect, but the final remedy is not yet available. Under the recall, dealers are expected to inspect the affected pistons and replace the engine long block if necessary, at no cost to owners. However, the final remedy notifications are not expected until December 2026, leaving owners waiting for inspections and repairs. In the meantime, some may continue driving with the potential defect or face extended periods without their vehicles while waiting for service. As a result, affected owners remain without a completed repair despite the recall.
