Tristar Power Quick Pot Pressure Cooker Burn & Explosion Hazard

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating Tristar Products, Inc. regarding approximately 393,000 6-quart Power Quick Pot electric pressure cookers (Model No. Y6D-36) for severe safety defects involving lid locking mechanism failures. A defect in the pressure sensor and lid locking mechanism allows the pressure cooker lid to be opened or dislodge while the unit remains fully pressurized, causing boiling liquids, steam, and scalding food to erupt violently into kitchens and onto nearby occupants.

Tristar CookPotConsumers Suffer Severe Second- and Third-Degree Burns as Pressurized Content Erupts

These 6-quart stainless-steel multi-cookers were sold as safe, convenient countertop kitchen appliances. However, federal regulators at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have obtained dozens of reports detailing instances where hot contents expelled unexpectedly under pressure. When the lid unlocks or opens under load, boiling soup, grease, and steam spray across countertops, resulting in catastrophic second- and third-degree burn injuries, facial disfigurement, permanent scarring, emergency room hospitalizations, and severe property damage.

Tristar Refuses Voluntary Recall, Leaving 393,000 Hazardous Appliances in Homes

In an extraordinary move, the CPSC issued an urgent public safety warning directly to consumers (CPSC Warning No. 27-030) after the importer, Tristar Products, Inc., explicitly refused to conduct a voluntary recall or offer any repair, replacement, or financial remedy to affected buyers. Because Tristar has refused accountability, federal regulators urge consumers to immediately stop using these appliances and dispose of them safely rather than passing them to others. We are investigating whether Tristar manufactured and distributed these pressure cookers with full knowledge of dangerous locking flaws, abandoning consumers without compensation for product loss or severe burn injuries.
