GE Profile UltraFast 2-in-1 Washer/Dryer Combo Defect

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating GE Profile UltraFast 2-in-1 Washer/Dryer Combo units (including models PFQ97HSPVDS and PFQ83HSSWWW) for defects relating to lint filtration failures, restricted airflow, and drying performance loss. A design defect in the "EZ Access Lint Filter System" and internal ducting allows lint to bypass the filter screen and accumulate heavily across internal condenser and evaporator coils, preventing the ventless heat pump system from properly drying laundry.

Owners Report Soaking Wet Clothes, Extended Cycle Times, and Severe Lint Buildup

Consumers who purchased the premium all-in-one appliance report that after ordinary use, drying cycles extend to several hours or leave clothes completely damp. Because lint escapes past the lint trap and cakes onto inaccessible internal heat pump coils, airflow is drastically restricted, causing the machine to overheat, trap standing moisture, and display error codes. In many instances, the wet lint accumulation produces foul mildew odors and creates a significant fire or component failure hazard inside the unit.

GE and Haier Fail to Provide a Lasting Fix or Adequate Redress

Despite widespread consumer complaints, GE Appliances (Haier US Appliance Solutions) has failed to issue a recall or provide an effective permanent repair. Dealership and authorized service technicians frequently perform superficial coil cleanings or advise owners to manually wash out inaccessible areas—a temporary workaround that quickly clogs again. Many owners face repeated service visits, denied warranty claims, or are left with an expensive $2,500+ appliance that fails to perform its essential function.
