Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid Fuel Line Disconnection & Vehicle Fire Risk Defect

Scott Hirsch Law Group PLLC is currently investigating certain 2024–2027 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid SUVs (J250 generation) for critical safety defects involving fuel line retention clips and potential fuel leaks. A manufacturing or component retention defect causes the retaining clip joining the plastic/resin fuel tube to the main metal fuel line above the fuel tank to unseat and disconnect. This allows pressurized gasoline to leak directly onto chassis and exhaust components, creating severe fire hazards, fuel vapor ignition risks, and sudden engine stalling while driving.

Toyota Land CruiserLand Cruiser Hybrid Owners Face Fuel Leaks, Strong Odors, and Fire Hazards

Owners of newly redesigned J250 Land Cruiser Hybrids report alarming incidents where unseated retaining clips allow the fuel line connection near the gas tank to separate. In static and dynamic testing, a disconnected fuel line causes the high-pressure fuel pump to continuously spray gallons of raw gasoline under the vehicle. Drivers may notice strong gasoline odors inside or around the cabin, visible fluid leaking underneath the vehicle, or sudden loss of drive power and engine stalling due to fuel starvation. If spilled fuel comes into contact with hot engine or exhaust surfaces, it creates an immediate risk of a catastrophic vehicle fire.

Over 105,000 Luxury Off-Road SUVs Recalled Nationwide

Toyota Motor North America submitted a safety recall report covering 105,794 Land Cruiser Hybrids in the United States (plus over 6,700 in Canada). According to filings submitted to federal safety regulators at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA Recall Nos. 26TB23 / 26TA23), Toyota has logged dozens of field technical reports and warranty claims regarding disconnected fuel lines. While Toyota has instructed dealers to inspect connections and install a supplemental retaining clamp (or replace damaged fuel tubes), many owners face scheduling delays and lingering safety concerns. We are investigating whether Toyota manufactured and sold these flagship off-road SUVs with known fuel system vulnerabilities and whether owners are entitled to compensation for safety risks, fuel loss, and diminished vehicle value.
